Is There a Right of Passage?

I completely agree and it's kind of interesting because there's been so many cultures throughout the that we know of that have had rights of passage. It seems as though there are groups out there that are trying to do that but it's not something that's socially accepted at least in the West. I think maybe even in the East in some traditions, of course, they're still going to have it. But for the most part, I think you nailed it. The reasoning of ignorance is an interesting word. Because a lot of people can give that a negative connotation, but it can actually be just like the start of the hero's journey.
