Emotion Research - Is Your Face Emotional?

Facial expressions are universal throughout all cultures and therefore the emotions are too. That was the dominant belief in our dominant model in emotion research for a very long time. But later research suggests that although people do have consistent facial reaction across cultures, not everyone shows the exact same expression. There's no one expression that everyone has for happiness. You can recognize it, but you can recognize a pet. The wider context is way more important than the initial theories about them would have suggested.
