The Black Hole Spins Faster Than Cygnus X1
The fastest spinning black hole that we've found to date is Cygnus X1. Stephen Hawking and Kip Thorne, who you might remember, was the science advisor to the movie Interstellar. They placed a bet on whether or not CygnusX1 was actually a black hole. And they bet like magazine subscriptions. So if Stephen Hawking won, he got some magazine subscription. I don't remember what his was because he lost. But in 1990, when it was confirmed to be a black hole, Thorne won a year long subscription to Penthouse magazine.
