The Challenges of Postmodern America

The difficulties facing us in postmodern America pale in comparison with the challenges of daily life of 50, let alone 150 years ago. The US has kind of a buffer. It's still the world's reserve currency and has been since after World War II give or take change. Even elites and very smart people are kind of ill equipped to even think of the collapse of that kind of cushion. And it can come and there are all sorts of unpredictable ways in which it could come.
