Religious Freedom Restoration Act - What Is It?
The Religious Freedom Restoration Act protects people's religious freedom. The act was passed by Congress in response to the Smith v. Employment Division case. In that case, a person who smoked peyote could be fired for doing so as part of their faith. But this is the first time the Equality Act would simply take this defense off the table.
