Death Is Bad - It's a Misfortune
If i don't make it to 55, you now, that's a reasonable length of time that i could have expected to live that i won't then live. So i will have been deprived by my early death, right? That's known as the deprivation account. And it does seem to me to put its finger on the central way in which death is bad. But if we're going to use the depri account to say, here's why death is bad, it seems as though it commits us, out of consistency, to saying, it's also a misfortune that i didn't get the million dollars.
