We have very little idea how it is that you're only able to see what you see. Almost nothing has obvious boundaries, and this has real world consequences. So for example, when henry ford invented the automobile, he presumed was that he was building an efficient means of transporting people from one place to the other. There were other unintended consequences of ford's discovery.
