President Biden Announces New Renters Bill of Rights

President Biden announced a new renters bill of rights on Wednesday. The measure will direct the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and other federal agencies to begin collecting information that will help identify practices that unfairly keep tenants from housing. Democrats have long said tenant background checks disproportionately impact minority tenants. 50 Democrat Congress members led by Congress woman Alexandria Acasio-Cortez and Senator Elizabeth Warren sent a letter to the White House calling for rent control policy.
