On butter, when you take a snapshot, a snapshot is a special version of a sub volume. The sub volume can be located anywhere. You could have one butter sub volume named sub one and another one named sub two. If you wanted to, nobody is stopping you. Whatever your idiot idea is, you can absolutely accomplish it exactly as your fiefred brain dreamed it under butter.
