The mark down implementation of google docks is still like a ode that has been, you know, bolted onto a pre existing system. When you go back and let a few characters, you are still in the same rich text for marin mode. It's sort of against the spirit of mark down, which is you see the formarin, and if you delete the characters, you also delet the formating. Thet're trying to add more options to it.
