The Battle of Paris

60 thousand troops marched through the gate and started fanning out. They secured control of two other gates into the city, the sant clu and versailles gates. But instead of defending a single coordinated line, each neighborhood constructed their own local barricades to defend their own local neighborhoods. The men just refused to budge from their own barricades. All the versailles army really had to do was surround each neighborhood, in turn, snuff it out and then move on to the next one. That which would doom the commune was already done, and they could not undo it.
