The Purple Hearts of the War

He was putting his pants on when the first of the six torpedoes hit. He comes running up on deck in his skivvies as the ship is capsizing. A bullet clips him in the leg and he spends 40 hours hanging on to what used to be the bottom rung in the ladder. When they pulled him out, he looked like a raisin that had been soaked so much it was back to being a grape again. The fourth one I can't remember, but this guy had a great war. He just brought it on himself.
