Lacan: A that is the cause of desire is connected to a whole host of lost objects. These no zones are archaic representations, leftovers, portals to that earlier loss. They are what Lacan calls, libidinal residues. All of these erogenous zones are irreducible by sublimation. Sublimation can never fully reduce and close the openings afforded by these no zones.
