Is There a Good Estimate of the Number of People in the World Today?
WHO estimates 2.4 billion people rely on biomass or other dirty burning fuels to cook and potentially even heat their homes. Exposure to this household air pollution contributes to over 3 million deaths per year concentrated in these poor countries where it is prevalent. LPG, which is a combination of butane and propane, seems like the most likely option if we're going to achieve a transition at scale of hundreds of millions or billions of people. The study was based on previous work that measured emissions from different stoves.
