The Albanese government has a set of policies that will do exactly that. They call it the National Housing Accord, and they described as a landmark agreement. The policy is to encourage private investors, particularly superannuation funds, to start investing in building housing. That's not the only idea that's floating around, though; the property council of Australia wants the Albanese government to throw some money behind build-to-rent developments.
