Unexplainable is paired with the strong possibility of blame in many cases. Explain comes ultimately from planus, or planus, which means flat. In french, the word for map is still plant, p l a n, plan. So it's kind of an interesting etymological journey that you can take through these words. We're talking about explainable and explicable.
