Copernicus's Deocentrism
Tico had doubts about Copernicus's system so he came up with an idea that the deocentrism could be maintained. It was based on his observations of the supernova or the new star in 1572 and the 1577 comet which convinced him that the petroleumic system as such could not stand. The reason why he ended up with this system has generally been assumed to be the underestimating of the distances to the stars but of course it was a convenient system too.
