Introduction
This episode is all about being primed and ready. I wanted to talk animal defence, animals that are primed andready. If you're a european honey bee, the chances are your colony won't survive. Wild japanese honey bees have something different going on. They can withstand temperatures two degrees higher than those of hornets. And so they just heat up this big bull it's called a hot defensive bee ball. After about an hour, the hornet is dead. It can't survive that temperature, but the bees can. In reality, there'll be some bow on the inside of the hollet that die, but the colony survives.
