Is There a Relationship Between Education and Literacy?
I feel like part of the Protestant Reformation was spurred by increased literacy. The idea that we could expect our parishioners to read the Bible for themselves or something, for example, sort of pre-requires literacy and cheap books. To have an idea, there has to be certain material precursors, right? So if there were not rising literacy rates and there was not a printing press, then no one would come up with the idea in the first place. But from the Orthodox perspective, right, so how I orient myself and having grown up in a Protestant community, it's always about I need to dig deeper into the tradition to find the answer,. And then accept what I find
