The Effect of Social Security on Tax Liability

If the US does not pay out Social Security, you have to someone, a senior citizen who's eligible, then the tax liability goes down. Most federal taxes are income taxes and they're paid based on your income. So if the government has to withhold payment to you, your income goes down and so your tax liability going down. When it cuts spending, it cuts into their revenue stream. It lowers tax revenues, so that means that spending has to go down more. And it can be severe. Once things start slowing down, then they slow down some more, then theySlow down some more.
