The Cultural War Between the CHP and the AKP
The main division between CHP and AKP as the kind of I guess two major parties and their followers is a cultural one. The political Islamic parties never got much more than 20 to 25 percent so this whole Islamic culture against you know secular values it was turned into a cultural war in the 2000s. Right-wing conservative parties have been in government at least in Turkey since 1950 most of the time not so much Republicans by the way.
