CHAPTER

The Influence of Communism on the Family

In the 21st question or whatever, what will be the influence of communist society on the family? Engels's two or three sentence response is that it will transform relations between the sexes into a purely private matter. It can do this since it does away with private property and educates children on a communal basis. And so people can really freely, genuinely freely outside of any constraints, any limitations imposed on them from the outside economic and political order, be able to choose. So I cannot imagine how single parents have ever did it, but you know before 1960, women had like no freedom at all.
