The Story of Nathan Hale
Nathan Hale was a captain serving in the Continental Army when he volunteered for a risky mission to Long Island which was under British control at the time. He posed as a Dutch school teacher and he was tasked to gather intelligence on when, where and how the British were planning to cross Long Island's sound and invade Manhattan. At his execution Hale is alleged to have spoken the words which propelled him into the history books. However, historians haven't found any truly compelling evidence that he actually said that.
