Hindoo Texts and Texts of Hinduism
Hinduism does not have a closed canon. Rather, it has an accumulation of sacred texts addressing different aspects of life. There is a basic division in the hindoo scriptures between what are called shruti and smiti. So with the addition of vidanta and pacti, the ba ic contours of hinduism as we know it to day was already then in place by the post classical period.
