Kia Morris lost her bid for a third term as state representative in Vermont. She was the target of online abuse from an ex-husband who threatened to kill her and their seven-year-old son. After leaving office, she filed a complaint with Vermont's Human Rights Commission alleging discrimination by the police department and the town of Bennington. The town had to publicly apologize and agreed to pay her $137,000.
