Is There a Genre of Romance in the Writing World?
"We all also know how powerful the books are in the hands of readers," she says. "I think we do need to interrogate so much about the genre but we really need to integrate why hope and happiness and power is less valuable to society than feeling hurt or harmed, traumatic or like you know suffering" She adds that people should be less willing to take the bait of the criticisms because they can end up obscuring the things that the genre is doing.
