The Limitations of Cost of Transport in Trail Running
It is not clear if or why sometimes we measure an increase after a trail running race and sometimes we find a decrease in cost of transport. The differences that we measured are so small, it's like, I don't know, two, three percent. And even sometimes they are not statistically different. So when you try to publish the reviewers say, okay, the cost of transport is improved by four percent, but it is not statistically Different. It's like a gap between science and the field performance.
