The American Revolution and the Haytian Revolution

The french revolution, on the other hand, absolutely entailed a social revolution running alongside its political rvolution. And so it's the first of our great revolutions. But how much and how far and to what degree these things changed is a matter of ongoing debate. The revolutionary mythology in spanish america that independence produced racially agaletarian societies is not actually as true as the myths would have us believe. It was probably the single most revolutionary event we talked about on the show, and about which there can be the least argument. We're talking here about an anti colonial revolution that displaced and replaced the systems of political power. So it's definitely a political revolution.
