Idolatry - What Is It?

An idol is anything so central and essential to your life that you could not imagine being happy or secure without it. Idolatry is not so much about what you bow your knees to as what it is that you lean your soul upon. For example, we may not kneel down to images of artemis, the god of success, but many of us could not Imagine being happy without it.
