She Really Can't Win

I think the friction is between the way she's been taught to interact with people. She really can't win. I suppose Wayne keeps it just sort of slippery enough that we don't quite know if he's drawn to her because she's Asian or not. But what she does make clear is that there is no way for this character to embark on a straightforward relationship with a white guy without feeling that concern or that slight suspicion.
