The Festival of Passover
The festival celebration says, what we enjoy this day we enjoy because of the faithfulness and generosity of god. It's worth thinking about the centuries when that feast was celebrated in suffering. What would have meant to celebrate a festival of freedom in the midst of oppression? The hagada is um, the traditional jewish text that's read each year at the passover celebration. And it celebrates not only the fruits of god's past provision, it experiences the present moment as sharing now in the promised blessings.
