The Degeneration of Silicon Valley Capitalists

Do you think that there's some sort of degeneration between the proto-silicon Valley capitalist class and today or do you think this is the end? I can't help but think about Elon Musk even when I'm going through this history of California figures because he is this hubristic figure who survives on public funds while creating this infrastructural, marketized vision of the United States. But also he seems to be more transparently a buffoon or just like a salesman of this vision rather than someone who's sort of competently organizing it.
