The Liquidity Crunch in China
The real liquidity squeeze is not in the banking system, but rather among the smaller banks. It feels tight because there's been such a massive increase in investment flows into infrastructure projects and real estate development projects. In spite of very rapid credit growth, that credit growth has been overwhelmed by demand from infrastructure and real estate developers. What we're seeing is very, very rapid nominal growth and a sense of technical in the market.
