The Importance of Minerals in Space Exploration

Water is of course a critical resource for any type of space exploration but other minerals for construction or electronics or fertilizer are important too. Because the moon is so geologically similar to earth it's possible to apply knowledge about how earth geology works what minerals associate with what types of rock and geologic formations on the moon as well. If we understand the geological background under which those rocks formed we might be able to translate our knowledge from terrestrial setting to the lunar setting, he said.
