Hartsfeld and his family used to call their relatives in Tel Aviv on Wednesday. Heinemann would crack his usual telephone joke: "Once, with excitement, as if it was the first time he'd ever told it" Hartsfeld's parents were always worried that they wouldn't be connected right away.
