The Importance of Liebenzrom

Liebenzrom was a model for German imperialists of the relationship between geography and politics, space and power. Although Germany was allowed limited colonial claims in Africa and the Pacific, the imperial project was limited in comparison with the British Empire. The need for Liebenzrom both as a geographical resource and an expression of the political and cultural superiority of a young and dynamic nation long predated the Hitler dictatorship.
