How Does This Relate to Collective Stubbornity?
People are uncomfortable with using statistics to judge the relative effectiveness of different medical treatments. We would rather have just the simple idea that everyone should get all medicine that doctors say is good, he says. All medicine is valuable so everybody should get it all, and we shouldn't distinguish between who gets it and we shouldn’t distinguish the treatments. And by that sort of simplifying, then we can agree together about medicine who should get it, and what it is. It is whatever the doctors say isgood, andEverybody should get it. Because that would require us attending to these details which would then divide us.
