The Importance of Understanding the Client's Preferences
There's a perception from some people related to competency that sort of goes with your ethnic background. For some people, they feel like African American clinicians are not as competent. And so because of their own bias and internalized racism, it also shapes their preferences for providers. So I think we need to give back to this idea of coach humility and understanding the client more specifically.
