People could cope through chan in what sort of crops they grew, right? So one might change over from grains like wheat to vegetables or fruits that grow more steadily in rainy or cloudy weather. There are other recourses that one can turn to, but several of them in a row, affecting large areas, can lead to famine. We see this happening in the early 15 nineties, and then again repeatedly and more and more frequently through the 16 hundreds. And we see increasingly frequent bread riots in towns and cities around Europe after teen hundred.
