How Do You Know if You Know Something About Your Partner?

A new set up a lab study where participants would interact with a fictional person. Theye wered then how well they thought that person knew them. The twist being that only some people would receive information about this fictional person, whilst others wouldn't. When patespants were in information condition, when they received those facts about their partner, they felt as if their partner would know them better. More than that, this idea that these strangers knew more about them also affected the participant's behavior.
