David Frum: No man or group of men can create anything as marvelous as the human mind. He says we want facts, proof, not theories requiring faith to believe them. The rickets specimen David is referring to was found in 1908 in France nearly a hundred years after the first Neanderthal finds in the 1820s. And the mistake wasn't in identifying these bones as a non-human species. It was the mistake of French paleontologist Marcelle Boul who assumed that the bow-legged nature of this skeleton would apply to the entire species. Turns out it doesn't.
