I have wanted to dig up the dead to see what's left. Would almost rather meet the shell than the soul. Rake the frozen ground, burial vault vots they housed them in. The body, just an armful of kindling or handful of blue fibres from the designated suit. List of pall bearers, still a drawer somewhere, and the alternates in case some one couldn't stomach bearing the corpse from hearse to church and back to hearse and then to graveside. And here we go again with the very structure of the book, the rectangular units. I really do end on just these images of uniformity, which, up against the depth of the loss
