In 1968, Harvard scientists declared brain death as a form of death. CPR was really invented in the 1950s by anesthesiologist from Baltimore. Dr. Peter Safer started the first ICU and developed mouth-to-mouth breathing. "I think that's what happens is when you have a respect for the work that people did," he says.
