Episode 3: The Popper-Deutsch Solution
The Theory of Anything
00:00
How Science Progresses via Theory to Theory Comparison
Popper: There's no reason to embrace a theory like Newton's when we have Einstein's. He says this allows us to decide of any new theory whether it will be better than the old one. And so it means that progress in science can be assessed rationally. The only question that matters is what's your current best theory? Right. Science I'm asserting Popper's asserting is built on this. Maybe scientists don't really explicitly realize this but this is the basis forprogress in modern society. It's the basis for moral progress.
