Timur and the Ottoman Empire in Anatolia
After the Battle of Nicopolis, Beyazid went on a series of campaigns in Anatolia. These extended Ottoman power toward Timur's expanding territory. The new possessions in Anatolia weren't secure and their rulers had been independent for decades or centuries. Even the Turkaman frontier lords with a long history of service to Beyazids were not necessarily loyal. And that is where Timur enters the picture.
