The russian armed forces proved far less effective and efficient than people expected. Most western anlists, on the official line in the united states and in britain and nato, expected the ucranians to lose within at most 2-3 weeks. That is not what they've got. And the consolidation, think, is back to the east and also to the south. But then the final issue, i think, is, in many ways, the question of what is happening within russia.
