Introduction
George Takei is best known as Sulu from Star Trek. But he's here in London for a musical based on his own experiences as a Japanese American who was sent to internment camps. We're Americans of Japanese ancestry, just like German Americans or Italian Americans. With those countries we were at war as well but they happened to look like the rest of America. And Asian Americans walking the sidewalk would be assaulted, spat at, called all sorts of ugly names.
