Ray Davis and the Kinks

Ray Davis was horrified that someone had apparently stolen the group sound. He found out it was the who, who as the high numbers, had had a bit of a rivalry with the group. Ray decided to go in a different direction for the next kinks single and recorded Everybody's Gonna Be Happy which was apparently intended to sound like Motown. But to my ears it was no resemblance. I think that was worse than stealing a song, they were actually stealing our whole style.
