CHAPTER

The Perceptive Experience of Abandonment

A lot of what the experience of trauma and trauma responses are is very individual and subjective, even when we have collective traumas. A person can experience a parent leaving for a period of three days because they had a business trip as a sense of abandonment. It can happen once, but if they happen on an ongoing basis, they can become the general scripts or narratives that we then internalize in our minds.
