Involuntary Holds - The New Standard for Mental Health Interventions
In most places, a person can be put under an involuntary hold if they pose a danger to themselves or others. Amanda Pastilnik: In short, we are confirming that a person's inability to meet basic needs is part of the standard for mental health interventions. It lowers the bar for involuntary holds, and there's been a strong response to it, she says. We currently have 35,000 psychiatric beds for a population of over 330 million people.
